AUSTRALIAN PARTNERSHIP

The Australian Partnership Scholarships (APS) is an initiative from the Australia Indonesia Partnership for Reconstruction and Development (AIPRD) and is funded by the Australian Government for postgraduate study for Indonesian students in Australian universities.
APS is a different scholarship program to the Australian Development Scholarship program (ADS).

The objective of the scholarship program is to increase the human resource capacity of Indonesia in the areas of Economic Governance, Public Sector Management and Education. The scholarship program is an important component of the on-going development cooperation between Indonesia and Australia. After the earthquake and tsunami in Aceh and North Sumatera, the Australian Government has increased its commitment to supporting development in Indonesia.
The Australian Partnership Scholarships Program funds Indonesians for higher degree (post graduate) study in Australia through a joint selection process overseen by the Government of Australia and the Government of Indonesia and consistent with mutually agreed general policy objectives.
The APS Program is managed through the APS Project Office in Jakarta and through the IDP office in Canberra to ensure efficient and effective administration of the program.

About the Australia Indonesia Partnership for Reconstruction and Development (AIPRD)
On the 5th of January 2005, the Prime Minister of Australia announced the availability of one billion Australian dollars to support Indonesia’s reconstruction and development efforts, both in an beyond tsunami affected areas. The support focuses on the Indonesian Government’s program of reform with an emphasis on economic and social development. This cooperation initiative between the Australian and Indonesian Governments is administered through AusAID via the Australian Partnership for Reconstruction and Development (AIPRD).

INDONESIAN SCHOLARSHIP SUPPORT PROJECT

Through the Indonesia Scholarship Support Project (ISSP) and with funding from the British Council, the AED Center for International Training administered the scholarship of 22 Indonesian scholars enrolled in masters and doctoral programs in the US. This included monitoring the scholars' academic progress and welfare, maintaining communications with their professors and advisors, and helping them adjust to the U.S. higher education system. The scholars were staff members of the Republic of Indonesia's Ministry of Education participating in the Asian Development Bank-funded Junior Secondary Education Project to strengthen the secondary school system in the country. While in the US, the participants pursued advanced degrees in fields such as educational planning and management, school administration, policy development, classroom-based assessment, curriculum development, and school innovation.
